Best Gluten-Free Places to Eat in Boston (Part 1)

Boston Skyline

Over the past five years I’ve tried my fair share of gluten-free restaurants, with some becoming my staples. When I was drafting a list, the ideas just kept coming, so I decided to make this a multi part blog post! Here’s a list of some of my absolute favorites (in no particular order) with my go-to order. Many of these restaurants have featured posts on my instagram feed @glutenfree_juliag. Let me know if you try them!

P.S. - The corresponding website is linked to each restaurant name!

Bartaco

    • I love the fun, casual atmosphere of Bartaco. It’s always on the list for girls night! You can scan a qr code to order and pay individually if you want. A majority of their menu is gluten-free and they have a separate fryer.
    • Location(s): Seaport, Brookline, and Fenway (as well as many others across MA and the US)
    • Julia’s Faves: Glazed Pork Belly Tacos and the Watermelon Basil Smash cocktail

Eventide

    • Eventide is where I ate my very first oyster (and oyster shooter)! The quality can’t be beat, and their gluten-free lobster rolls are arguably better than their gluten ones. The bun is the fluffiest I’ve ever eaten!
    • Location(s): Fenway, Maine
    • Julia’s Faves: Love Point Oysters, Warm Brown Butter Lobster Roll

Faccia Faccia

    • Everything you would want in a restaurant on Newbury Street! From the flower arch at the front door to the extensive gluten-free options, Faccia is my favorite place for a special occasion (I had my graduation dinner and will have my birthday dinner here!)
    • Location(s): Boston
    • Julia’s Faves: Grilled Octopus, Chicken Milanese, Bolognese

Twist

    • Twist is dedicated gluten-free, and safe for many other allergies as well. They have breakfast and lunch, as well as pastries, baked goods, and holiday meal prep.
    • Location(s): Burlington, Millis
    • Julia’s Faves: Hot Honey Chicken Bowl

Loco

    • Another delicious taco place, and where I tried Birria Tacos for the first time! A great option before a Red Sox game or a night out in Southie.
    • Location(s): South Boston, Fenway
    • Julia’s Faves: Birria Tacos, Churros

Capo

    • Tuesdays are gluten-free nights where everything is safe for celiac! Even on other nights there are tons of gluten-free options. I love to order a bunch of appetizers for my meal and share with my family! My 21st birthday was on a Tuesday and I was surprised with the best party ever!
    • Location(s): South Boston
    • Julia’s Faves: Veal Milanese, Meatballs, Creamy Polenta

Revival

    • A great breakfast spot, and they make homemade gluten-free bread! Not your typical breakfast spot with many unique offerings.
    • Location(s): Alewife, Davis Square, Watertown, Boston, Lexington
    • Julia’s Faves: Leonardo DiKimchi, Mudslide cookie

110 Grill

    • Craving that classic pub food that you had before getting celiac? 110 Grill has it all. They always offer a gluten-free menu when you arrive, and have a strong commitment to take care of all allergies.
    • Locations(s): All over Mass, New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island
    • Julia’s Faves: Spinach Dip, Calamari, Sweet Potato Fries

Tavern In The Square

    • Just like 110 Grill, Tavern in The Square has the best array of fried foods. I love to watch sports games there - they even have gluten-free beer!
    • Location(s): All over Mass, Rhode Island, and Connecticut
    • Julia’s Faves: Chicken Tenders, Fried Pickles

Yardhouse

    • A recent find that has turned into a favorite! They have a separate gluten-free menu with many options (even dessert that isn’t ice cream!)
    • Location(s): Burlington, Boston, Lynnfield, and more
    • Julia’s Faves: Caesar salad with grilled chicken and the pork burger with blueberry ketchup
